Social Ties

For the tech-minded people - I’ve added XFN support to my blogroll. Unfortunately, I have few to no meatspace friends on the web, so most of my relationships can only be properly classified as ‘acquaintance’, which I liberally tagged as someone I’ve exchanged multiple emails with. Only one person over there have I met, as we worked for the same company a few years ago. Anyhow, this is a neat way to show relationships in a semantic manner. Much better than the generic ‘knows’ relationship in FOAF. Less of a clique atmosphere than the sign-up social networks.

More Gas

The New York Times gets it right. Notice there’s not one mention of “gouging” by oil companies. First, they show that inflation adjusted prices are near lows for the past 20 years. Then, they discuss the customized fuels required by many different cities and states, then good old supply an demand.
