Trans-Siberian Orchestra

The main Christmas gift I gave to Maureen this year were tickets to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We had talked about going for years when they came to Toledo, but never made it. This year I happened to be going to a hockey game at the Xcel Center and saw the marque ad a couple of days before tickets went on sale.

It turned out to be a great show. We knew generally what to expect, but were surprised the show was 2-1/2 hours, most of which was the Christmas-themed rock opera “Christmas Eve and Other Stories”. The rest was what I’d call a more typical rock concert, with little cohesion between songs. The light show is a much a part of the fun as the music. As this was their final show until November, they spent a lot of time introducing everyone (including, as a group, about 50 stagehands) and appearing to genuinely have fun.

We’d highly recommend them to everyone. We don’t plan on going every year, but we’ll definitely go see them again.
