Supportive Parents

Excellent quote:

I thought it was good, though, and my parents thought it was good, but with parents, you have to remember these are the same people who once praised you for pooping. It’s their job to be encouraging. Some parents retire from that job, some tell you everything you do is crap (ironically), but mine never did.

Writing requires enough confidence to make it through the first mountains of discouragement. You almost have to have someone behind you giving you encouragement.

Not sure about the praise for poop thing, though. I mean, after 18.

Maybe not after 18, but it’s a daily occurrence from me to my kids. Not something “they” tell you about in preparation for being a parent.

Having cats must be that way sometimes, I would imagine.

Being good at writing requires such a thick skin and perseverance. I’m amazed by the people who stick with it.
