It’s been a long time since I wrote here…in 2008 I intend to write a least 1 post per week.

Now I’ll be using this blog to better track and capture what I’m doing. With the flipping of the new year, I’m (re)commiting to various things I want to do. Some have been goals for years and lacked the diligence and dedication to execute, others saw me fall off the wagon this year.
Such as?
- Losing weight - I was down almost 40 pounds until I lived out a hotel and restaurants for a month back in May. I regained all the weight and lost the discipline I had instilled within myself over the previous 18 months.
- Creating a side business around personal finance. I’m degreed in it and have plenty of real-world experience to draw on (some good, some bad) and see an opportunity to share that. This doesn’t even need to be profit generating, just satisfaction-bringing.
- Keep up reading - I read 85 books from approximately October 2004 - December 2005. My goal is one book each week in 2006.
The last two goals will be hard to meet without dedication. My time is severely restricted - my job easily consumes 10+ hours a day (often 6 days each week), my wife and kids are the top priority and I need to spend more quality time with them, and I already have a web project (my church website) that I need to spend much more time on.
These aren’t New Year’s Resolution per se - I see those as too easily discarded. It’s mostly a coincedence that I’m evaluating goals and priorties during the calendar’s odometer flip.
If you can see this, you’ve reached me at my new home on the web. I also took the opportunity to switch weblog tools to Wordpress. I’ve been playing with it some, and like it a lot. As with everything I do, I’m using the switch as a learning process and as a chance to dig around. Learning for the sake of learning.
Expect growing pains!
That was short, ugly, and brutal. Hopefully this look will last a little longer.
Hint, it’s not the default stylesheet.
What’s the point of having a website if you don’t redesign it once in a while?
I never was really satisfied with the last look. I like minimalist, but that was bad minimalist. In my opinion, this is a vast improvement.
